Senior Services Senior Services Department, a NC Senior Center of Excellence for the 12th
consecutive year, provides quality services, programs, activities and opportunities
to promote and enhance the well-being of seniors. A satellite Senior Center
was opened in Locust at Town Center in mid-October with daily activities being
managed by the Stanly County YMCA.

Soil and Water Conservation Service
The mission of the Stanly Soil and
Water Conservation District is to
provide education, information and
technical assistance to citizens of
Stanly County for the conservation
of our soil and water resources.
• Presented soil and water
conservation information,
environmental science
instruction, project-based learning workshops, and/or outdoor learning
activities to 3,067 individuals.
• Stanly Soil & Water has a no-till seed drill available to rent for improving
soil health and decreasing erosion. It was used twelve (12) times on 97
acres; drill rental generated $1,712 in revenue.
• The cost share program encumbered $80,577 in contracts designed to
reduce soil erosion and improve water quality and quantity within the
county.
• Received $66,000 to assist with agricultural Best Management Practices
and $7,500 to assist with water needs on agricultural properties.
