Both Charlotte and Sarasota Counties
offer a variety of parks providing
activities for all ages. Tennis, pickleball,
swimming, cricket, badminton, basketball,
yoga, martial arts, Zumba and hula dancing
are among the classes and programs you’ll find
offered at the local parks and recreation centers.
There may be a small fee to participate.
If you are in Englewood, you are never
far from a beach. There are four beautiful
public beaches on Manasota Key that attract
residents and visitors from all over. On most
days the Gulf water is calm and 75 degrees or
higher.

AMBERJACK ENVIRONMENTAL PARK

With 225 acres of conservation land on
high ground, this park has a mix of scrub
and mangrove habitats. Accessed via a boardwalk
through a mangrove tunnel, Amberjack
Slough is excellent for birding with its pine
flatwoods, scrubby flatwoods and scrub.

This park has over 316 acres of protected
and public land dotted with pine trees,
scrub and mangroves. You’ll find the J.M.
Berlin/Rotary Skate Park, basketball courts,
public pool with a splash pool for children,
playground, tennis courts, cricket courts, 18-
hole Frisbee golf course, and nature trails.
The football fields are home to the area’s
Pop Warner teams. There is a boardwalk,
picnic shelter, a kayak/canoe launch and a
playground. A new 23,000 sq. ft. recreation
center with multi-purpose gymnasium,
fitness center, and a community garden
opened in 2019.The pool area is modern and
family-friendly. There is a $3 fee for adults
and a $2 fee for children under 16.
Insider Tip: The dog park next door is a
very popular spot for pets and their owners.

Tringali Park is especially popular among
families with young children, those who take
advantage of the lighted outdoor hockey,
basketball and tennis courts, huge indoor
rock wall and is home to the Charlotte
County Inline Hockey Association and
a popular pickleball league. Adult classes
include yoga, Zumba and tennis clinics. The
newest addition is the Tringali treehouse
playground and covered picnic area. Many
area civic groups call Tringali home, and
people flock to the community yard sales.
The community center is also popular for
private functions and weddings.
