CELEBRATING THE LIFE
AND TIMES OF
D Rixoons,c oJe r. On September 20, 1949, in a quaint little
28
hospital in Gilmore, Arkansas, God delivered
an order from ,heaven to earth in the form of
baby Roscoe Dixon to parents, Roscoe and
Virgie Dixon. Little did they know that this
little bundle of joy would be so instrumental in
justice, equality and service to his fellow man.
On April 15, 2021, another order was received
from heaven concerning Roscoe regarding a
higher calling at 8:00 p.m. in the evening as
Roscoe stepped across the threshold of time,
into eternity to serve forever in the kingdom of
his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The legacy
he left behind can be simply encapsulated in
the words “He was a servant of mankind”.
Roscoe was the second oldest of seven
siblings in the Dixon household. Even as a
child, it was obvious that Roscoe was destined
for the arena of ,politics. As a young boy, he
was an innovator, he was a negotiator, he was
a motivator and he was an initiator. He was an
innovator, when his sister Catherine watched
as he talked through a fan to project his voice
as he practiced on his public speaking skills.
He was a negotiator with his sister Vernita
(now deceased} when he persuaded her to
hide the goodies with him from the other
siblings. He was a motivator when he encouraged
his baby sister, Sandra, to always master
encouraged his younger brothers Danny,
Bobby and Ricky to pursue, various career
paths in life.
