cy. Thanks to the rapid vaccine distribution and the subsequent
relaxation of the mask mandate, New Jersey has made major strides in
establishing a safe and enjoyable summer.
In lieu of these new regulations, most schools have announced the
return of in-person classes. However, many students remain trapped behind
their computer screens for virtual internships and work experiences
for the duration of the summer. So while the year-and-a-half long quaran-

of working at home, students have been able to juggle other priorities

or exploring behind the scenes of a corporation are just a few examples
of the many activities that cannot be replicated in an online format.
Because many programs have become canceled, postponed or moved
to the virtual world, students have become deprived of many valuable
learning opportunities. This causes the remaining jobs and internships to

environment not only boosts students’ state of mind and overall
mental health, but also enhances one’s ability to absorb information and
therefore perform on a higher level. Furthermore, a typical internship or
professional job consists of long hours, consequently causing students’
eyes to remain glued to screens for an unhealthy period of time.
Even though it is summer and the outside world may be returning to
normal, it is important to support the youth of our community and provide
guidance for their prevailing struggles. Embarking on the journey of en-

hardworking students of Monmouth County and applaud their efforts in
becoming the future leaders of tomorrow.
