Jasper City Mill was recently constructed to resemble
the former mill that once stood near the Patoka River.
Tour the mill, watch the workings of the waterwheel,
and embrace the serenity of the Patoka River.

This beautiful area of Jasper is filled with vitality,
history, and a variety of shops. Main Street and the
area around the square provide an ideal background
for great shopping and special festivities throughout
the year. More than 20 of Jasper’s oldest sites are in
the downtown area.
L.H. Sturm Hardware Co.

Constructed in 1886, this building was purchased
by the Sturm family in 1895 for operation as a hardware
store. It stands today as one of the oldest hardware
stores in Indiana that has continually been operated
as a hardware store by the same family. It is on the
National Register of Historic Places.
River Centre

The Jasper River Centre is expected to be the hub of
downtown activity in Jasper. For 2021, this new complex,
located next to the Patoka River, RiverWalk, Jasper Mill
and Spirit of Jasper Train and Depot, features special
events throughout the year, including themed rooftop
dinner parties. The St. Benedicts Brewery is also housed
at the River Centre as a second location brewery.
Schaeffer Barn and Alexander Schoolhouse

This historic, hand-hewn log barn and single-room,
1918 schoolhouse are located near the new Cultural
Center and Jasper Riverwalk. Originally built in the
1800s, the barn features a Cantilever Overhang typical
of many German buildings during the time with a
unique construction of half-dovetail notches, log cribs
with 26-foot feeding troughs, and a stone foundation.
The historic Alexander Schoolhouse was moved from
its location south of Ireland and restored to be used for
school trips, library programs, and as a tourist attraction.
Schnitzelbank Restaurant

Opened in 1961, this restaurant is widely known for its
authentic German cuisine and ranks as one of the top
ten independent restaurants in Indiana. Enjoy dishes
