REASONS TO CHOOSE
IHA FLORIDA
Content provided by International Hockey Academy
There’s a reason, in fact lots of them, why Canadian and European
families are choosing to enroll in hockey academies. 15 years ago, a
Canadian industry leader, International Hockey Academy, was established
in Calgary, Alberta. Fast forward to 2019 and IHA Florida is opening its
doors at the Clearwater Ice Arena. The plan is simple; to replicate the
academy model and experience for families in the Tampa Bay area.
IHA FLORIDA TOP 5-
1. Work/Hockey/Life Balance
Consider your typical weekday. Wake up; get yourself and kids out the door;
rush to work and kids to school for the day; rush home; eat whatever;
collect your things and race to the rink; put in a few hours for practice; rush
home; late-night snack; get ready for bed; do some work/homework; sleep
and repeat.
The academy lifestyle is about bringing balance to families. When the work
and school day ends, families can spend time together.
2. Success in School AND Hockey
Schools and sports organizations work independently from each other and
this puts our kids in a very stressful situation. It’s hard to perform at your
best when these entities are not in alignment.
In an academy, the schooling and sports
schedules are combined so the student-athlete
is able to study and train without conflicting
agendas. The result is better performance in
BOTH.
3. Professional Leadership
Former Chicago Blackhawks and Edmonton Oilers, Adam Bennett, heads
IHA Florida’s hockey operations as Coach & GM. He brings over 20 years
of coaching and development experience for players at all ages from minor
hockey to the OHL’s Jr. A Mississauga IceDogs. Bennett and his team will
infuse a blend of Canadian and European training
methods for a challenging, but inspiring, player
experience.
IHA’s education partner, Elevation Prep, sets the
standard for education in sports academies in Florida
and delivers the best combined, education/athletics,
experience.
4. Exposure
IHA Florida sees their primary objective as presenting their students to
Universities and Colleges in the best light possible. This means showcasing
each student with their highest academics and hockey performances in
tournaments throughout North America and Europe. As discussed in
Reason #2, this is only possible when academics and sports are aligned
to the benefit of the student-athlete.
5. Cost Effectiveness
Have you REALLY added up the cost of travel hockey? The registration fee
is only a small part of what you’re actually covering. There’s also a team
budget fee, jerseys, track suits, off-ice training, and much more. Then add
the cost of travel, hotels, meals, tournaments, etc.
In exchange, how much ice time and development are you receiving? What’s
the coaching level your kids are getting? How much school are you missing?
SOLUTION
Suddenly, when you look at all the factors,
IHA Florida becomes a real alternative to the
traditional model and you realize why families,
all over the world, are enrolling in academies.
So, before you follow the crowd for another
year of travel hockey, take a look at IHA Florida
and consider the possibilities.
