When prospective students visit Jesuit’s
campus as 8th graders, they notice
and comment on many things – the
friendliness of the students, the relationships
between students and teachers,
the dynamic learning going on in the
classrooms, the beauty of the campus,
and the impressive organization of the
school and school life. To a man, though,
they particularly appreciate the opportunities
the school affords in athletics
and student activities. Boys growing into
young men relish activity, competition,
opportunities for leadership, service, and
the exploration of new ideas and new
friendships. Jesuit student life offers an
abundance of all of that.
Students can now choose from more
than 50 clubs and student organizations
to explore their interests. Many of them
are long-standing – the Jesuit Masque
engages those drawn to theatre, our
renowned Robotics team operates in the
new Robotics and Engineering Lab, the
award-winning Key Club, the Speech and
Debate team, the Environmental Club,
the Pro-Life Club, and many more have
thrived for years. The students themselves
have formed other clubs more
recently, such as the African-American
Club, the Italian Club, and the Art
Club, known as Don’t Feed the Artists.
Students can develop new skills or gain
specialized knowledge in exciting clubs
like Digital Communications, Video
Animation, the Business Club (a.k.a. The
Company), and now a Pre-Medical Club.
Really and truly, every student can find
not just one, but multiple clubs in which
to develop his talents, clubs that allow
him to get involved fully in student life
while forming life-long friendships with
fellow Tigers and moderators.
This issue of Perspectives highlights
the great work that has been done over
the past several years to build up and
enhance student life via an array of enriching
clubs. It shows why the growth of
student life and student activities is even
more important than the growth and
development of campus facilities. I hope
you enjoy reading about our immensely
talented student body in the rich variety
of their student life
Sincerely in Christ,.
