Prospanica Brillante Awards
On Wednesday, October 14, Prospanica recognized Latinos and
Latinas with the 2020 Brillante Award for Community Service
Excellence. The Brillante Award is the most prestigious honor
granted by Prospanica and recognizes the exceptional contributions of
exemplary individuals, corporations, and universities to the Hispanic
community.
Brillante Award recipients are distinguished experts in their fields
and demonstrate strong leadership capabilities as well as the resilience
to adapt to and overcome obstacles. Their effective and innovative
solutions leave significant impacts on the business world, Hispanic business
professionals, and the Hispanic community at large.
The Brillante Award for Community Service Excellence recognizes an
organization or individual who exemplifies Hispanic leadership through his drive
and success. This recipient also steps forward as an advocate for education
and community collaborations that foster advancement in initiatives to
empower Hispanics and assist them to further their educational and
professional pursuits. Congratulations to all the award recipients.
Events & Occasions
Andy Canales is the Executive Director, Greater
Houston at Latinos for Education. Previously, he
led the Center for Social Measurement and
Evaluation at Children at Risk, a statewide
children’s research and advocacy organization in
Texas. Before moving to Houston, he served as a founding director of the
Commit Partnership in Dallas, the region’s collective impact organization, where
he led the flagship initiative to improve early literacy outcomes for over 8,000
low-income Kindergarten – 3rd-grade children. Prior to this, he worked in
corporate philanthropy and as a teacher in low-income communities in Miami
and New York City as a Teach For America corps member.
He serves on the Board of Directors of several organizations making a
difference in the community including TEACH and the Latino Texas PAC, which
he chairs. He’s a Harris County Leadership ISD Fellow, a Senior American
Leadership Forum Fellow (Class XLVII), and a Houston Business Journal 40
under 40 honoree.
Rodolfo Guerrero

Professional with Allstate. He has diverse
experience in information technology
implementing strategy, business process and
technology projects in domestic and international
settings in the insurance, education, utility, automotive and retail industries. At
Allstate he manages data warehouse and big data initiatives, strategic
technology projects and multiple global teams, in the USA, India, and Northern
Ireland, to improve the gathering, accuracy, and privacy of customer data for
business strategic initiatives. He is implementing innovative methodologies for
improved team productivity and performance to deliver technology in shorter
periods of time. Thereby allowing the company to remain a leader in the industry.

Robert E. Bard is the president and CEO of
LATINA Style Inc., a position he assumed in
October 2001, after the untimely passing of his
spouse and business partner, Anna Maria Arias,
founder, editor & publisher of LATINA Style
Magazine.
In his 19 years leading LATINA Style, Mr. Bard has expanded the
influence of the company by creating and further developing the five signature
programs; the LATINA Style Business Series, the most successful ongoing
business development program for Latina business-owners in the nation; the
LATINA Style 50 Awards and Diversity Leaders Conference, reporting on the
top 50 companies for Latinas to work for in the U.S.; the National LATINA
Symposium recognizing Latina achievement in all areas and professions; and
the Distinguished Military Service Awards, honoring outstanding Latinas for
their military service and the LATINA Style Hero Initiative focusing on the
reintegration and re-assimilation of Latina officers leaving the service and
entering corporate America or launching their own businesses.
Susana Marino

Susana Marino is the founding chair of the
chamber and she provides strategic direction for
the programs, and activities of Northern Virginia
Hispanic Chamber of Commerce - NOVAHCC
(the “Chamber”) delivering fiscal responsibility
and oversight for all organizational operations supporting the growth and prosperity
of large and small businesses in northern Virginia. In addition, she has been
appointed as Board of Directors for Virginia Career Works, Northern Region.
She holds a bachelor's degree in International Studies from the University of
South Florida and graduated from NOVA Southeastern University with a Master
of Science in Management and Administration of Educational programs. She
leads the committee for International Investment & Trade.
