IBX Announces Bettina Inclán As Chief Communications Officer

IBX, an innovation and investment
firm, announced that Bettina Inclán
has joined the company as Chief
Communications Officer. Inclán, who most
recently served as NASA’s Associate
Administrator for Communications,
brings 20 years of experience in
strategic communications, branding, and
external relations.
“I am excited to add Bettina to the IBX
team where her leadership experience and
communications expertise will play a vital
role as we accelerate strategic growth
opportunities in the frontlines of space, technology,
and energy,” says Kam Ghaffarian, CEO and President
of IBX.
In her role as IBX’s Chief Communications
Officer, Inclán will help with overall communications,
marketing, and branding efforts for IBX and Mr.
Ghaffarian’s affiliated organizations and lines
of business.
At NASA, Inclán served as the space agency’s
top communications executive and was responsible
for external and internal communications, including
public affairs, digital and video content, NASA TV,
and executing the agency’s robust public outreach
efforts. During her tenure, the team won numerous
awards, including two Emmy’s, introduced the world
to the Artemis Program, told the story of Launch
America returning human spaceflight to US
soil, reintroduced the NASA worm, and celebrated
the 50th anniversaries of the Apollo 11 Moon
landing and Earth Day. In 2021, Inclán was
awarded NASA's Outstanding Leadership Medal
in recognition for her leadership in coordinating an
increase in communications, expanding internal
communications, and strengthening interagency
coordination efforts. Before joining NASA, Inclán
was the CEO of her own consulting business. Her
experience also includes serving as Senior
Vice President at a global public relations firm,
co-hosting a radio show on SiriusXM, working in
Congress, and serving as a political strategist and
communications consultant for over 15 years.

Commissioners of the U.S.
Commission on Civil Rights have
appointed Norma V. Cantú as Chair,
marking a milestone for the
Commission as the first Latina
to serve as Chair. Cantú is a
Professor of Education and
Professor of Law at the University
of Texas at Austin, specializing in
the American with Disabilities Act
(ADA) and education law. Cantú
joins the Commission with a
distinguished record of public
service, including eight years as
the Assistant Secretary of
Education for Civil Rights in the
Clinton Administration and most
recently, as a member of the
Biden-Harris Transition's "Agency Review Team" for education.
The Chair and Commissioners of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights
serve six-year terms.
"I am looking forward to advancing the mission of the Commission on
civil rights matters facing our Nation today, in collaboration with my esteemed
colleagues on the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights," says newly appointed
Commission Chair Cantú.
Poised to become the only Latina chancellor of a community college district
in Southern California, Diana Z. Rodriguez steps into her new role on August 1st.
“Serving as the next chancellor is the honor of a lifetime,” Rodriguez shares.
“My passion for this work comes from my own story. As I walk across our
district and our campuses, I see myself
in our students. I am second-generation
Mexican-American, first in my family
to go to college, and a very proud
community college graduate.”
With more than 30 years in
higher education, she served in
leadership roles at Las Positas College
in Northern California and Palo Verde
College in Blythe before becoming San
Bernardino Valley College president in
2016.
At SBVC, she helped launch
student-focused programs such as the
GenerationGo! internship program, the
Valley360 Resource Center food pantry, the Workforce Readiness Program
and the annual SBVC Day of Service.
Rodriguez has two master’s degrees from Cal State San Bernardino
and is a doctoral candidate in Higher Education Leadership at
Northcentral University. LS
