Winter’s Eve
The Dunedin Fine Art Center’s inaugural Winter’s Eve Casino fundraiser was held at the Center in Dunedin. It was an evening
of buffet dining, music, prizes, casino-type tables with professional dealers, and even slot machines. The successful event seemed
especially appropriate, since the Dunedin Fine Art Center was originally built with funds that were raised by the Junior Service
League of Dunedin, now the Junior League of Clearwater-Dunedin, during their Casino Night benefits in the 1970s.
Colin Bissett, head of the North Pinellas
Cultural Alliance, and his wife George Ann,
president and CEO of the Dunedin Fine Art
Center, applauded the benefit’s success.
Longtime Center supporters and former
board members Richard and Susan Gehring
had a good time trying their luck at the
Las Vegas style gaming tables.
Amy Heimlich, vice chair of the Center’s
board of directors, and her husband
Ed Koslow enjoyed seeing so many friends
at the gaming tables and on the dance floor.

This art lottery that featured the work of over 100 artists is the signature fundraiser for the Clearwater Free Clinic. The 15th
annual benefit was held on the Frank Crum campus in Clearwater, where guests enjoyed martinis and wine while nibbling on
food provided by area restaurants, such as Island Way Grill, Clear Sky Beachside Cafe, E&E Stakeout Grill, Guppy’s on the Beach,
Nauti-Nancy’s Food Shack, Marlin Darlin’ Key West Grill, Pensare Italian Bistro, Rumba Island Bar & Grill, Salt Rock Grill and
Villa Bellini Restaurant & Lounge.
Nearly 25-percent of the annual operating budget of the Clearwater Free Clinic is generated by this fundraiser, which relies solely
on community financial support, grants and donated goods and services, since it receives no regular state, federal or United Way
funding. More than 150 medical and clerical volunteers provide care to low-income, uninsured Pinellas County families at the Clinic.
Dr. David Shapiro joined his wife Jeannie, the
executive director of the Clearwater Free Clinic,
at this highly innovative fundraiser.
Susan Murbach, the chair of the event,
and her husband Dr. Richard Murbach

fundraiser for the Clearwater Free Clinic.
Ruth Stone (center), the honorary chair
of the event, and her nieces, Marsha Hall and
Nancy Odekirk, are highly aware of the
important services provided by the Clinic.
