University Chronicles Board of Trustees Update Saint Leo University’s governing board is a group of volunteers who exemplify the university’s six core values. They all give generously of their time, talent, and treasure to enhance the education our students receive. This year, we welcome eight new members to the board. International Airport in New Jersey. An avid sports fan, he remains a loyal supporter of Saint Leo Lions Athletics. Since retiring, he continues to be active as a business consultant and is involved in local charities. He and his wife, Linda, live in Bonita Springs, FL, and maintain part-time residences in New York City and Dublin, OH. They have two grown children and a grandson. 22 FALL 16 Spirit Magazine Peter Biscardi ’70 graduated from Saint Leo College with a bachelor’s degree in political science and went on to hold a number of management positions in the automobile industry. These include positions at the Hertz Corporation, as well as president and then partner at National Auto Care Corporation. He was also city manager at Newark Liberty Edwin “Ed” Narain ’07, ’09 has served the Tampa Bay (FL) community for more than two decades. He has worked with several organizations that are committed to helping children and the working poor. He is a member of the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County and has served on the Hillsborough County Head Start Policy Council and the Hillsborough County Community Action Board. A regional director for AT&T, he is a three-time Florida Top Performance Manager of the Year. In 2014, he was elected to the Florida House of Representatives from District 61, and he is currently chairman of the Florida Legislative Black Caucus. He earned a BA in psychology and an MBA from Saint Leo University. He then went on to receive his Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law. He and his wife, Monica, have two daughters. The co-head of Americas Private Client Solutions and managing director of Citi Capital Markets, Joseph P. “J.P.” Connellan ’85 has been with Citi for three decades. He started his career in sales and then moved to regional trading. In 1997, he began managing the Municipal Division’s Northeast sales and marketing efforts, and he built the proprietary High Net Worth Platform for Citi’s clients. He graduated from Saint Leo College with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He has served as councilman for the Borough of Sea Girt and is on the board of the Mobile Trauma Unit of New York City and the Villanova University (PA) School of Nursing. He and his wife, Nora, and their two children live in Sea Girt, NJ. Laurie (Starratt) O’Donoghue has enjoyed a varied career in global financial markets, specializing in risk mitigation and risk transfer. She worked for global financial firms, including Citibank Global Asset Management and Murray Johnstone, as well as CommonFund, an independent nonprofit asset management firm. She recently retired from Pareto NY LLC, a subsidiary of BNY Mellon, where she had been president and chair. Pareto manages the currency translation risk of institutions with overseas investments, such as universities, foundations, and pension funds.  She has held a number of board and committee positions, most recently serving on the Archdiocese of New York’s Making All Things New parish reorganization initiative. A native Floridian, she and her husband, Jim, met while students at Saint Leo. They settled in New York and raised two sons and a daughter but now spend their winters in Vero Beach, FL.
