SCOUTS ALL ABOUT THE ESTATES SCOUTING PROGRAM As the arrow whizzed through the air, the laughs and fun did not drown out that “thud” that archers come to love when they hit the target. This scene plays out thousands of times across Collier County and at the Boy Scouts of America camp within an hour’s drive of Golden Gate Estates. “My favorite thing to do in Scouts is camping but not just the sleeping in tents. It’s the stuff we do as we camp that I like the most like canoeing, BB guns, archery, fishing and the camp fires and I get to do it all with my friends,” said Jasper Ott, a fifth- grader at Sabal Palm Elementary. These are just some of the adventures that Cub Scouts ESTATES LOCAL • JULY/AUGUST 2017 enjoy thanks to the resources available at Estates Cub Scout Packs and Boy Scouts of America facilities. Parents in the Estates community choose Cub Scouts for their kindergartners through fifth grade boys for many reasons. Parents appreciate the family values and activities that serve the entire family right where they live. Families are welcome at every field trip, camp out, meeting and activity along the way. The boys learn service to the community, respect for self, respect for other, and the importance of faith. Meetings by each age group are led by volunteers who are fellow parents in the program.
