CONSTRUCTING YOUR OTTOMAN S T 13”x 13” E Once you trim your stitch out down, we’ll lay out our fabric in the following order. Starting with fabrics A and B, place right sides together, and pin in place. TOP U V E Your layout will look like this once it is sewn together. We’ll now sew the sides together. Fabrics E and F will be attached to fabrics B and D as shown with arrows. W X Again, sew along the connecting seams. Once the sides are all sewn together, repeat Step W to connect the “Last” piece of fabric, as indicated in Step V. However, pin and sew only 2 of the remaining 3 unfinished sides together. On the 3rd side, sew a 1 ¹/₂” in on both sides of the seam as shown in step Y. We’ll now want to trim our design stitch out down to 13” x 16”. Do so by trimming 2¹/₂” off of the left and right side, and trimming 3” off of both the top and bottom of your stitch out. Sew along all connecting seams. Start and finish ¹/₂” away from each corner, which will help with ease of sewing for later on in the design. Attach remaining fabrics together in the same manner, using a 1/2” seam allowance. Note: Press open seams as you go. Next we’ll form the shape of our pouf ottoman. Fold the sides up and pin together until you get the shape of a box. Note: Your design stitch out will be face-up on the inside of your “box” A B C D F A B C D F BOTTOM RIGHT LEFT 13”x 16” 13”x 16” 13”x 16” 13”x 13” LAST BLISSFUL AFRICANA | Full Collection | 115
