What Is Wool Thread? Wool thread we have used in the past for machine embroidery is a 30wt thread that is 30% wool and 70% acrylic composition. This gives the thread its softness and high running strength. If you are using a 30wt wool thread we recommend you use a 100 or 110 needle. WOOL THREAD Collections Using Wool Threads The design collection Jacobean will bring you back to the old world style of crewel. While crewel was originally done entirely by hand, this collection gives you the elegant simplicity of this timeless style. But, luckily, you no longer have to do it painstakingly by hand. The detail in the designs is impeccable and this collection looks great stitched out in cotton or wool thread. Using the wool thread is something we have rarely done in the past, but we love it in this classic collection.
