Community Engagement Programs
The Florida Orchestra has always shown its dedication to Artistic Excellence and Community
Engagement. As early as its third season, youth concerts were an important function of the
orchestra, and that tradition has maintained throughout the 50-year history of the orchestra.
The Florida Orchestra is a special place, with people who care about the quality of life an
orchestra brings to a community. It supports education and civic development, and provides
opportunity and hope. Please visit FloridaOrchestra.org/education-community/ for more
information about all of our community engagement programs.
Pops in the Park Concerts
Enjoying The Florida Orchestra with the family under the stars is another way TFO helps to
raise the quality of life in our community. Programs in the parks have been performed since
at least 1979.
TFO on the Go
At the beginning of the 2017/2018 season, TFO performed 10 free, public chamber music concerts
that reached over 600 people, at locations such as hospitals, schools, and the Police Athletic
League after school program.
Youth Concerts
Concerts for elementary school students have been a cornerstone of TFO
educational activities since the beginning. Each season, more than
25,000 students from Pinellas, Hillsborough, and Pasco counties in
grades 3-5 are bussed to a concert venue to see the full orchestra
perform an educational concert. Teachers are provided with
study guides to prepare their students for the performance.
