MAINLAND CURRITUCK
Highway 168/158 is the main thoroughfare to the Outer Banks.
Plan to stop along the way. There are many one-of-a kind farm
markets, casual restaurants, antique and thrift shops, winery and
craft beer establishments. It is worth stopping by some of the locally
owned shops and restaurants to discover the vast array of unique
“treasures” they hold. If you’re hungry, eat where the locals eat.
Try some fresh, local seafood, famous North Carolina barbecue,
or a southern style hamburger cooked to perfection. Or stop by
Sanctuary Vineyards for a taste of locally produced wine.
The mainland also boasts six golf courses and an array of attractions
including the Currituck County Rural Center, Currituck County jail,
Historic Courthouse, Historic Jarvisburg Colored School, and the
Grave Digger Monster Truck.
