in the Mountains
The first blush of spring is here — and there’s not a better time to enjoy the
North Georgia mountains. Hikers and bikers can make their way amid dazzling
blossoms of redbud, dogwood and mountain laurel. The weather is shortsand
pullover perfect, with bright sunny days and just enough nip at night to
make a cabin fireplace feel magical. Spring also welcomes in a new
season of festivals and celebrations as we shake
off our winter slumber and come out to play.

Take a Bite of Spring
On April 21, you can sample specialties from
a wide variety of local restaurants at Taste of
Blue Ridge, which raises funds for the local Humane Society. One of our newest
festivals, Blue Ridge Trout Fest & Outdoor Adventures, is held on April 28.
Plan to spend Memorial Day weekend strolling through more than 200 arts,
crafts and food booths in the downtown city park at the annual Arts in the Park
festival. And June 16 is the annual Blue Ridge Mountains Wine & Jazz Festival.
At Blue Ridge Community Theater,
you can catch the comedy, The Boys
Next Door, April 12-29, or enjoy a concert
by Kurt Thomas (March 31) or Ray
Fuller and the Bluesrockers (April 7).
Of course, there’s no better way to
experience the spring splendor than
aboard the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway.
There’s even a special Easter Eggspress
ride on March 31.
Be sure to check the Calendar of
Events on pages 60-63 for even more
seasonal fun!
