Chair’s Reflections
THE FLORIDA ORCHESTRA | 2017-2018
6
Dear Friends,
On behalf of the entire Florida Orchestra family, I am
proud to welcome you to this concert. We truly hope you
will enjoy this unique experience of live orchestral music
performed by your Florida Orchestra.
As the Chair of the Board of Directors, I am inspired every
day by The Florida Orchestra’s dedication to serving the
Tampa Bay community and beyond. Under the strategic
guidance of Music Director Michael Francis, we are
tirelessly striving to reach new audiences by making our
programs accessible to all of our community’s residents
and providing them with meaningful opportunities to experience and participate in music and
the arts.
Although The Florida Orchestra will soon bring its successful 50th anniversary season to a close,
there are still many concerts left to enjoy. With upcoming performances of Verdi’s Requiem,
Celebrate Broadway, Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4, Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony and
Patriotic Salute, our Masterworks and Pops series offer something for each and every music
lover. Additionally, the orchestra will perform a Happy Hour concert and the exciting Music of
Michael Jackson before the season concludes. The orchestra will also make history by opening
the newly developed Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park in Tampa this Mother’s Day.
As we reflect on what we’ve accomplished so far in our 50th anniversary season and look ahead
to all that’s yet to come, I want to thank you for being part of Tampa Bay’s leading performing
arts institution and one of the most vibrant and innovative orchestras in America.
We recently announced our 2018/19 season, which will open with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5
this September – we hope to see you there.
Warm regards,
Janet E. Paroo
