JACOB’S LADDER SCENIC BYWAY
Constructed in 1910, the Byway (US Route 20) was the first modern
highway in America crossing a mountain. Drivers dubbed it “Jacob’s
Ladder” for its steep hills and sudden switchbacks. Extends 33 miles,
Lee to Westfield. Maps available from the Lee Chamber of Commerce

MOHAWK TRAIL
Completed in 1914 and called America’s first tourist highway, the
trail (MA Route 2) offers spectacular long-distance views between
