#1 Regional, Seasonal Fare
(Chester Brunnenmeyer’s Bar & Grill, 733
E. Main St.) — Great food, craft beer, unique
decor, friendly staff … what else could you ask
for? How about some inspired apps (killer wings,
smoked trout fish dip), beefy sandwiches
(mesquite burger, turkey BLT) and some serious
staples (sautéed shrimp with fettuccine,
blackened 14 oz. ribeye), plus a great selection
of wines as well as a full bar. Bring it on!
Mix a little mountain air with
some outdoor activity and, suddenly,
what’s for dinner (or breakfast
or lunch!) becomes the most important
question of the day. Turns out, altitude
does affect appetite!
Fortunately, the Blue Ridge
mountains are home to
some truly inspired chefs.
Homegrown favorites
include the proverbial
meat-and-three, as well as
smoky barbecue, delectable
pasta and fresh trout. And several
cutting-edge chefs from across the
South have heeded the call of the
mountains and brought fine dining to
our area with tantalizing appetizers
and full-course meals.
And did you know? You can enjoy
beer, wine and mixed drinks at select
Fannin County restaurants (even on
Sundays in the city of Blue Ridge).
Eat out w Dine in
While you’ll definitely want
to visit the restaurants in Blue
Ridge, McCaysville, Morganton
and elsewhere around
the area, don’t forget that
many local stores feature specialty
meats, cheeses, wines and
other delicacies to bring back to the
cabin — or take on a picnic.
See pages 39-43 for
special dining offers.
