reputation as a cultural destination,
while providing educational and
entertainment opportunities related
to our passion for the American West
and Native American Indian culture.
WHAT ARTS-RELATED ACTIVITIES
SHOULD VISITORS NOT MISS?
There is so much to see. At the top
on the list is the Dalí Museum; there
isn’t a better collection of Salvador
Dalí’s artwork anywhere. The
Museum of Fine Arts curates good
visiting exhibitions in addition to
displaying its permanent collection.
The Chihuly Collection, the Duncan
McClellan Gallery and the Imagine
Museum are outstanding examples
of glass art. The Arts and Crafts
Museum opening later this year will
have an impressive collection. Of
course, I recommend the James
Museum.
WHAT MAKES THE
IMAGINE MUSEUM
UNIQUE?
Imagine Museum is one of the most
unusual and creative museums
in the city and the only museum
solely dedicated to the Studio
Glass Movement. Our collection of
colorful, gorgeous glass sculpture
showcases the history of the
American Studio Glass Movement
from the 1960s to the present, with
over 00 individual pieces of artwork
representing over 55 nationally and
internationally recognized artists.
Dale Chihuly is one of the founding
pioneers of the movement. A small
collection of his work is featured
at Imagine Museum but there are
many additional world-class glass
artists who are at the forefront of the
contemporary art movement.
Visitors will be awed as they
walk through our galleries to
see the breath, depth and
diversity of what has taken
place in this medium over
the last 55+ years.
