Garden Club JANUARY 2019
Anne Frank said “What a wonderful thought it is that some of the best days of
our lives haven’t even happened yet.” Our wish is that 2019 holds a myriad of
“best days” for each of us.
The Garden Club begins its year with the annual meeting on Friday, January
11th. In an attempt to shake up our schedule a bit, we decided to have lunch at
the end of our meeting instead of breakfast at the beginning. Stepping off the
edge, right? Registration will begin at 9:45 with our featured speaker, Noreen
St. Jean of Boys and Girls Club of Hernando County at 10:30. Lest you get bored
between 9:45 and 10:30, we will be collecting dues ($15) and holding signups for
all of our committees (Program, Hospitality, Charity, and anything else we can
think of). Additionally, you can purchase 50/50 tickets or some of our fabulous
note cards with original photographs by our
own Barbara Motter! These are so beautiful
you will want to frame them. This meeting
will also feature the “passing of the guard”
Presidents: Annette Davis & Marita Hickey;
Vice-President: Sandy Millington; Secretary:
Carol Del; and Treasurer: Gerry Morrone.
beginning of the planning for our annual
Fashion Show, which will be held on April
5th. Information will be forthcoming
between now and then, but mark your
calendars asap so you don’t miss this “social event of the spring season.” The
success of our endeavor depends on you, our volunteers, so please consider
signing up to serve on one of the committees, and/or to donate items for our
Stasko, appreciate your generosity of time, spirit, and tangible goods and the
recipients of our scholarships and charitable donations are truly grateful.
9th. The day could not have been better. With sunny skies, a light breeze,
and temperatures in the lower 80s. it was a perfect day to be on the water.
We headed north to The Plantation Inn in Crystal River for a lovely al fresco
luncheon. From there, it was a short stroll to the pontoon boats for a one-hour
tour of Kings Bay. Our captain/guide was interesting, informative, and funny.
He pointed out osprey and manatees and told us that Kings Bay was the second
largest spring system in Florida and the headwaters for the Crystal River. Our
thanks to Carol Del for organizing this trip.
