Disney Trail
West of Dalton, this steep trail
ascends Rocky Face Mountain.
Considered by many to be
the most challenging trail in
Northwest Georgia, Disney
gets its name from the lone
grave of an English-born
Confederate named George
Disney. His grave is located
at the end of the difficult, but
rewarding, trail where Disney
fell. Access begins behind the
Nazarene Church at I-75, exit
336, Hwy 41-North one mile.
Pinhoti Trail
This 245 mile, multi-use trail
connects the Appalachian
Mountains to the Talladega
Forest in Alabama. Open daily
during daylight hours, it is the
longest footpath in the state.

Prater’s Mill
Built by Benjamin Franklin
Prater in 1855, the water
powered mill was originally
fitted with the latest in grain
cleaning, grinding, and sifting
machinery, all powered by the
Coahulla Creek. The grounds
host the Prater’s Mill Country
Fair every October. Fishing is
permitted in Coahulla Creek.
A nature trail provides a
walkthrough of the area. With
a donation, the grounds can
be reserved for private use.
The Prater’s Mill Fair is always
held the weekend after
Columbus Day.

Textile Heritage
Trail Tour
Instrumental in beginning
what would become the
textile industry was a young
girl named Catherine Evans
Whitener. Years following, a
multibillion-dollar industry has
emerged and become the
keystone of Dalton’s economy.
Visitors can now learn the history
of the carpet industry starting
with the newly developed
textile heritage kiosk. The kiosk
is the first part of the Textile
Heritage Trail, which will be a
self-guided tour. The kiosk is
located at the Dalton Visitors
center at the corner of South
Depot Street and Cuyler Street.
The kiosk has several panels
that relay the story of the early
days of the carpet industry.
