Anthony Barrese
(Conductor)
Anthony Barrese, hailed by
South Florida Classical Review
as conducting “with passion
and idiomatic fluency,” earns
accolades as both a composer
and a conductor. His original
works earn numerous awards, and he is regularly
engaged by opera companies in North America
and Italy. Currently serving as Artistic Director and
Principal Conductor of Opera Southwest, Barrese’s
conducting credits include Le nozze di Figaro, Die
Fledermaus, La Cenerentola, Rossini’s Otello and a
“Return of Rossini” festival. He has also worked as
a conductor with Chicago Folks Operetta, Opera
Saratoga and Florida Grand Opera. He debuts as
conductor with Opera Tampa for La Bohème.
Frank McClain
(Stage Director)
Frank McClain is the Executive and Artistic
Director at The Grand Opera House in Dubuque,
Iowa, his hometown. From 2012-2015, he was
Managing Director for Opera Tampa. Previous
directing credits for Opera Tampa include Carmen,
Bon Appétit!, Maestro Anton Coppola’s Fond Farewells
Concert and The Merry Widow. Prior to coming to
Opera Tampa, McClain was Artistic Director for
Florida Opera Theater, now Opera Orlando, and
was on staff as a resident director at Orlando Opera.
Additional directing credits include: Il Barbiere di
Siviglia, Florida Opera Theater, Il Trovatore, Orlando
Opera and Don Pasquale, Vero Beach Opera.
Robin Stamper
(Chorus Master/Principal Pianist)
Stamper is managing director of Opera Tam pa.
He was previously the director of music for Florida
Opera Theatre, the director of music and chorus
master for Orlando Opera and artistic director
for Nevada Opera. He received degrees in piano
performance at the Eastman School of Music and
The Juilliard School.
