with prominent maestros Helmuth Rilling, Carl St.
Clair, and Dan Saunders of the Metropolitan
Opera. He’s also worked extensively in the
television and recording industries, appearing on
Glee, The Voice, and The Tonight Show with Jay
Leno while recording on the films “Storks” and
“Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal
Skull.”
A native of Connecticut, Quinn pursued a
Bachelor of Arts degree from Providence
College, a Master’s degree with honors from the
Manhattan School of Music and a doctorate in
conducting at the University of Southern
California’s Thornton School of Music, where he
currently serves on the conducting faculty. He
previously served as a faculty member at
Providence College.
Quinn officially started the position as music
director on July 1, 2018, which was only two
months after his audition concert.
“I would say it has been a perfect fit so far, we
are in the honeymoon phase still and so I am
really enjoying working with this great treasure of
an orchestra and our supportive community, and
I think the feeling is mutual,” Quinn said. “We are
really transforming how people experience a
symphony concert, and so far the response has
been overwhelmingly positive. I hope it is a long
lasting relationship.”
The symphony is celebrating its 46th year in
Venice and leaders are promising to continue to
thrill audience members. “As executive director
of The Venice Symphony, one of my favorite
things to do is to watch our patrons after a
concert,” said Christine Kasten. “We will always
try to offer a variety of ticket options and
discounts to provide our guests the finest seats
at the greatest value.”
Founded in 1974, The Venice Symphony is a
501 (c)(3) professional orchestra of accomplished
musicians, deeply rooted in its community.
The Venice Symphony is celebrating its 45th
season, performing 16 concerts through April of
2020.
All concerts take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday and
3:30 p.m. Saturday, with three additional Saturday
7:30 p.m. concerts (those concerts are also part
of the Saturday Night at The Symphony series).
Season tickets and packages are available for
purchase online now. All concerts take place at
the Venice Performing Arts Center, One Indian
Ave., Venice.
Troy Quinn, 36, is the new music director
and conductor for the association.
