AFTER LIFE
MORTUARY
SERVICES
They are classy. They are intelligent. They are
African-American. They are driven and energetic.
They are female. They are … (wait for it)
Morticians! Yes! Licensed Morticians! Perhaps
you have seen them on your timeline or in your
feeds when perusing social media. You may have
heard them on your local radio stations or you may
have even seen them executing with excellence a
funeral service for your loved one. In an
awe-inspiring interview, Spirit Magazine captured
the essence of two women soaring to heights
unknown and we are proud to share this amazing
story.
History has been made in the beautiful city of
Memphis, Tennessee. For the first time in its
astounding history, an African-American, female
owned mortuary has opened its doors and is in full
operation – providing everything needed to render
the full scope of funeral home services! Madeline
Lyles and Dana Taylor take the crown for creating
professional African-American history and we
celebrate their accomplishments. As with any great
feat, overcoming obstacles is always coupled with
such amazing success. When analyzing the
backgrounds of these young women, they have
both had an extremely high passion caring for
those who have transitioned, as well as those who
they left behind. With the help of God, both Lyles
and Taylor continues to serve in various capacities
of the funeral home industry. From the Office of
the Coroner to preparing Certificates of Death to
assisting during funeral services, each phase of the
industry has seen the best from these highly
trained young women.
