Jewish Christian Nursery
In the years after World War I, many Jewish people started to emigrate to Israel. In response, the Mission
decided to have an outreach in the Holy Land. Sharing the gospel at this time was extremely difficult,
since the tradition, institutional church had persecuted the Jewish people. It was also physically very
dangerous for Jewish people to accept Yeshua. Yet, Joseph H. Cohn believed that it was vitally important
for the Mission to have a presence in the Land. He believed that the Jewish people would return to the
land of Israel, and he wanted to be ready to receive them with the gospel, even if it meant up until the
Tribulation period! Many workers came and went due to the turbulence of the war in the years preceding
the transition into a Jewish nation. Work among the Jewish people included benevolence ministry. In
1954, workers Jacob and Leah Goren started a home for Jewish Christian children in connection with D.A.
Michaelson’s work. One can imagine that the need was great as these children endured displacement
and suffering. The work in Israel continues faithfully until today.
