MANATEE-SARASOTA BIA Contractors’ Guide 19
The success of a FBA Chapters depends on the
strength of the partnership among the school, local
home builders association and district administrators
and teachers.
Students can join their local FBA chapters through
their school. FBA Club meetings offer opportunities
for camaraderie and the chance to develop leadership
and team—building skills. Including members of
local home builders associations gives the students an
opportunity to learn what it means to be a builder,
mason, carpenter, plumber or electrician.
Teachers can become FBA Chapter Advisors and
promote the construction industry as a great
professional opportunity.
Local homebuilders and their home builder
associations are encouraged to become partners
withtheir local schools and FBA Chapters, offering
opportunities to give students a real world understanding
of what it means to be a builder in Florida.
Chapters of the Future Builders of America are
development programs in schools that offer drafting,
construction and engineering related classes. The program
links local professionals to their future workforce and
building industry leaders. Guest speakers, field trips and
opportunities for employment help introduce the students
to rewarding futures.
FBA’s annual program; where the students learn more about
their selected industry. Run by professionals of the building
industry, the students develop team building, leadership,
and networking skills through various classes and activities.
The FBA Scholarship Fund helps address the pressing need
for a better trained workforce in the building industry. The
program has awarded scholarships to an average of fifteen
students per year throughout Florida for higher education
in Universities or Trade Schools.
