KARATE FOR SELF-DEFENSE (18+ yrs)
Karate, as self-defense, trains your physical motor skills. All
techniques are taught by Hilmar Fuchs in a fun, safe atmosphere.
Participants do not need to be well coordinated or in
top physical condition. Martial Arts experience is not required.

YOGA ESSENTIALS (18+ yrs)
These classes start with some basic energy balancing techniques,
then add in breathwork and a combination of standing
and floor poses to work on increasing strength, flexibility,
and balance. Each class covers yoga essentials and ends with
meditation to quiet the mind and help to improve one’s health
and sense of well-being. Please bring a yoga mat, block, strap,
towel, and water. No class 9/2, 10/14, month of November.

PILATES (18+ yrs)
This 30-minute class focuses on abdominals and many of the
exercises will be done lying down. Pilates can improve your
posture, back health, flexibility, and overall strength. The movements
will enhance physical and mental conditioning, so this
is a great way to get in touch with your inner strength. There is
a clear purpose behind each exercise and breathing pattern.
Bring a yoga mat, drinking water and a towel.

This is a great program for all levels! Eclectic Yoga is a dynamic,
vigorous style of Yoga that synchronizes breath and movement, endures
longer holds on poses, and cleanses and focuses the mind.

YOLATE’S (18+ yrs)
This class is a pleasant blend of both Pilates and Yoga Stretch.
There will be familiar Pilates core exercises combined with
Yoga stretching poses, that will tone the core and build flexibility.
This class will also include some balancing poses that
will improve your stability. No class on 11/5.

Do you enjoy birding? Get tips on what vegetation you can plant
in your yard to attract migratory and year-round songbirds.

This informative talk teaches you about the native snake species
found in Southwest Florida, how to identify venomous snakes,
and the importance of snakes as mother nature’s pest control.

FISHING IN A WATERFRONT WONDERLAND:

Cape Coral Canals are home to many species of fish, both
native and exotic. Come learn about what you can catch in the
canals, discuss responsible angling practices, which parks are
good for fishing and launching your boat.

NEW GUINEA SINGING DOGS OF SHY WOLF SANCTUARY:
Thursday, October 17, 1:00-2:00pm
Learn about these unique wild canines who sing a beautiful
song. Shy Wolf volunteers will bring animal ambassadors with
them, to help the public understand the responsibility necessary
for caring for pets and the importance of conserving natural
environments. This program is free and open to the public;
however, donations to The Shy Wolf Sanctuary are welcome.

FLORIDA TURTLES: Tuesday, October 22, 1:00-2:00pm
Knowing the difference between turtles and tortoises can mean
life or death for these cute little critters. Learn about aquatic
turtles, land turtles, and tortoises.

Learn about how coyotes came to Cape Coral, their life history
and how to minimize negative interactions. Get tips to keep your
family and pets safe.

BURROWING OWLS: Thursday, December 5, 1:00-2:00pm
The Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife present “Living with Owls in
Cape Coral,” an entertaining photographic presentation all about
the official city bird, the burrowing owl. Learn why these interesting
little creatures love Cape Coral and are perfectly happy living
in harmony near people. This program is free and open to the
public, donations to Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife are welcome.

Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife Meetings
These meetings are for anyone interested in learning
more about Burrowing Owls or learning to help take
care of the burrows around the city. No experience
necessary – you can learn it here! Open to the public,
these meetings always include an interesting guest
speaker as well. Meetings are held from 7:00-9:00pm.
