inducted into the 2016 Class of the
eorgia ilitary eterans Hall of Fame
for his eemplary life of stoic sacrice and
seless service to others and our naon.
After a distinguished 20-year Army
career–including service at every rank
from private to master sergeant, drill
sergeant duty, airborne and air assault
schooling, engineer, and mounted and
dismounted infantry tactics training–
Master Sergeant Dover retired in 1998,
but never stopped “serving” America’s
veterans, disenfranchised communities,
or the downtrodden. As the President of
the South Atlantic Center for Veterans,
Education, and Training, Inc. since 2005,
Master Sergeant Dover is credited with
helping more than 10,000 homeless
veterans, including planning for a
homeless veterans center in Cuthbert,
Georgia.
Dover became the Georgia State
Commander of the Disabled American
Veterans in 2010, where he provided
operational and administrative support
to the 24,000 disabled members of the
state. Four years later, in 2014, Dover
was unanimously elected to the role
of National Chaplain of the Disabled
American Veterans where he continues
to serve as the spiritual advisor to the
national commander, board of directors,
national executive committee members
and the 1.3 million member organization
and their families. As a direct result of his
Veterans, Dover was appointed the
honorary Lieutenant Colonel Aide De
Camp by both Governor Sonny Perdue in
2008, and Governor Nathan Deal in 2011.
In his spare time, Dover travels around
the state taking photographs of veteran’s
graves as memorials and tributes to post
ones and long-lost family members
an opportunity to see and or visit the
gravesite of their service-member. To
date, Dover has amassed more than 6,000
gravesite memorial photo, and counting.
Lastly, Dover is active in helping
addicts recover through the Crossroads
Men’s Addiction Recovery Program in
Harris County, where he serves as both a
counselor and chaplain. Dover’s 39 years
to others and rightfully earn him a place
in the Georgia Military Veterans’ Hall of
Fame.
