cises Help Keep You With Little
To No Effect On Your Pain Flare
Triggers?
DGG: The best therapy I have is
laughter, meditation and medications.
I could tell you that I have
some exercise regimen but it’s just
listening to my body and resting
when I need to.
iPain: When You Are Having a
Difficult Day, What Helps?
DGG: Difficult days come in different
sizes, so I have different solutions
for each. Sometimes I just
listen to some sad songs and shed a
tear. Sometimes I play video
games for a while to clear my
mind. At times I’ll do a Reiki session
or card reading for someone
to get out of my head. And, yes,
there are times when only a taco or
two will help.
Above all I give myself permission
to go through the feelings and
emotions. I get mad, yell, have a
pity party and then I move on.
iPain: What Have You Learned
From Living With HIV-AIDS Disease?
DGG: I’ve learned about resilience,
courage and strength. I’ve
28—iPain Living Magazine
learned about friendships, family,
and loyalty. When to be a leader,
when to follow and when to get
out of the way.
I’ve learned how powerful the human
mind is. How courageous a
spirit can be and how much a heart
can handle.
I’ve learned a lot about myself.
iPain: When Acting or Performing
Comedy; What Are You Hoping
Audience Members Will Take
From The Performance?
DGG: First, I hope that they see
me as a regular semi-funny guy.
Second, when I share my healthrelated
jokes, they can see that
even what seems tragic can have a
lighthearted side. Last, that no
matter what life throws your way
you can still come out on top and
laughing.
iPain: Can You Share About Patient
Empowerment And The Importance
Of Standing Up For
Yourself?
DGG: Listen to your instincts,
trust your heart, follow your gut.
Bad things will happen, it’s what
you do with that experience that
will determine your journey. You
will either become bitter or learn
the lesson.
If you know how to advocate for
yourself, you’ll know how to do it
for others. And with that be the
best Patient Leader.
iPain: You can follow Daniel on
Social Media to learn more about
him and his media projects for advocacy
and entertainment.
