He did it again! Rumson’s Chief of
Police Scott Paterson continued his
streak as the top fundraiser for the
Polar Bear Plunge, held in Seaside on
Feb. 22. This annual event raises essential
funds to support events and programming
for the Special Olympics New Jersey.
This is Paterson’s 12th plunge. He
has been the highest fundraiser now for
the third year in a row. This year, he raised
$33,500, earning him the title of the top
individual fundraiser in the state. He is
quick to share this honor with the many
generous donors and Rumson residents
who support the Special Olympics.
“Every year I am truly humbled and
amazed by the incredible support I receive from the residents, sponsors, businesses
and those wonderful new donors,” Paterson said. “It is my honor to
take the plunge on behalf of all of them and, of course, the remarkable athletes
of Special Olympics. They are brave competitors who inspire everyone
they meet. The Special Olympics is very important to them, and I’m already
looking to doing it again next year. I will also be attending the games at The
College of New Jersey this year to cheer on these athletes. I look forward to
everyone’s support again in 2021 and thank everyone most sincerely.”
