In The Spirit of
So we have found ourselves at the halfway point in a year unlike
any the world has ever lived through. As a global community,
as a nation and as a local community, we have come
together in surreal ways to combat an invisible enemy. We have
obediently accepted limitations and become bound together in a
virtual world. We have learned a lot about what is important. We
have inspired one another and been inspired by many. We are uncertain,
we are waiting, and we are resilient.
And now, in this oddly still month that celebrates graduates,
brides, fathers and, for us, summer at our beloved Jersey Shore, we
are quietly beginning to see a change back to the life we cherish.
Our many small businesses have suffered greatly. As we begin
to turn the lights back on, we need to show our fervent support
to our hometown professionals. The Journal is proud to bring you
a special section, our Small Business Recovery Guide. We created
this guide to share the names of just a few of the different businesses
who rely on us and who we rely on. Please visit them for
your needs. These independent professionals play a huge role in
the quality of life we all enjoy.
As we continue our return to normalcy, The Journal is planning
on bringing you the Shore Reopening Guide in our July issue.
If you would like to share the good news about your businesses
with the many loyal readers of The Journal, please contact Director
of Sales Patrick Collins, and he will take good care of you.
I wish to thank the staff of The Journal who has adapted to
working from home to bring you this and for now, our upcoming
editions. I also wish to thank our many faithful advertisers
who make bringing you this publication possible each month. Of
course, we thank our readers who have continuously shared their
news, photos and updates on our busy social media sites. I have
always known we were a team, and now our team is moving ahead
to victory.
In the coming weeks, we encourage you to shop local and to
be generous to the army of people who make your life rich. We also
remind you to be generous to our food banks and numerous charities
who are carrying on their good work, despite missing many
essential fundraisers.
Our shore is a national destination. Our beaches, restaurants,
concert halls, recreation sites and events make us the place to be.
This summer, let us celebrate all the large and small things, from
the farm stands and the ice cream parlors to the mighty Atlantic
Ocean, as we remember that each of us plays an important role in
what makes us so unique.
Stay safe!
