RED SEA EXPANDS TO OFFER CAJUN MENU
As we are trying to navigate
our “new normal,” many
restaurants are going to
continue with curbside pickup
as opposed to dine-in service.
Back in March, I told you
about Red Sea Ethiopian
Mediterranean Restaurant in
Homewood. Now they have
expanded their menu to offer
Cajun cuisine. The former chef of Boateng’s
Cajun Creation in Bessemer is now serving up
all of his favorites at Red Sea, such as crab claws,
fried green tomatoes, lobster bisque, gumbo
and po’ boys. Platters and family size orders are
also available. All of the seafood comes fried or
grilled, depending on your preference. Although
I like grilled seafood, I’m a girl from the south
who loves that comfort food, so a delicious fried
platter is the way I roll!
For all the vegans, don’t think that the Ethiopian
10 Bham Family June 2020
side of the menu has been discontinued. They still
green beans, chickpeas, and—my favorite—beets. I’m
not sure how they make their beets, but they have a
sweet and tender taste that’s not overly earthy. If my
mom could have prepared beets like this when I was a
kid, I would have eaten them all my life.
Let’s continue to be good citizens and support
the local restaurants, whether it’s curbside or dine-in
and follow whatever safety protocols they’ve set in
place. We are #BhamStrong
.
