It is with tremendous pride that the Holmdel School District congrat-
National Promising Practice Award. This prestigious award presented
by the Character Education Partnership (now Character.org) recognizes
school programs promoting the 11 Principles Framework for
Schools and Character Education.
The Holmdel High School PEER Leadership Program began the
2019-20 school year promoting social inclusion and bringing a new
character education initiative to HHS, “Hello Hornets.” The goal was
to support new and transfer students entering Holmdel High School,
hosting team and relationship-building events during the school year,
to help support a smooth transition to our school.
Guided by PEER Leadership Advisors Bryan DeNovellis, Nicole
Fiorletti and Dan DeStefano, “Hello Hornets” was student-driven by
senior PEER leaders. Along with the orientation events, Holmdel High
School PEER leaders collaborated with guidance counselors in mentoring
and supporting new Hornets.
PEER Leadership Advisors
are looking forward to adding to
last year’s success by expanding
“Hello Hornets” to include incoming
ninth graders during
the year, while working on a
new “Promising Practice” in an
effort to build Holmdel High
School into a School of Character
in the upcoming years.
“Holmdel Excellence among our student body is a proud staple of our
-
ment. “Our student leaders model character and leadership, on and off the
emotional learning, and character education, it is with great pride we share
a landmark achievement at both Holmdel High School and our district.”
