we have received more than 2,000 applications and handled more
than 2,700 phone calls regarding the program, approving just shy
it is so important to put money directly in the pockets of our businesses
during these hard times.”

The Ocean is Calling
in Time for a
Fall Beach Sweep
BY LORI DRAZ
It’s October, and that means its Beach Sweep time. The spring sweep was
held virtually, but the fall sweep is on. To start things off, Clean Ocean
Action (COA) invites everyone to join in a festive virtual celebration on
Thursday, Oct. 22 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Host Tim McLoone leads this entertaining
program. Hear memorable tales and meet many colorful characters
from COA’s rich history as you celebrate the 35-year history of the
annual Beach Sweeps.
Murphy, for her climate change education initiatives.
This event, for those 21 and older, also includes an exclusive online
auction and a toast from Celebration Sponsor, Tito’s Handmade Vodka. To
learn more and join in the fun, visit OceanCalling.CleanOceanAction.org.
Then on Saturday, Oct. 24, it’s time for the annual Beach Sweeps. Due to
the town-by-town COVID-19 restrictions, there will be fewer sites this year,
but the work is still every bit as important.
Registration is required, and volunteers must register individually
(group registrations are not allowed). Face coverings and social distancing
are required.
To register for the Fall Beach Sweeps, visit CleanOceanAction.org.
