October at the
Oceanic Free Library
BY LORI DRAZ
The Oceanic Free Library (OFL) wishes you a wonderful harvest time.
Whether your October includes some new autumn recipes, craft ad-
there. They invite the many new friends who are making Rumson their
home to stop by and get a new library card to enjoy all the Oceanic Free
Library has to offer. This special place is supported by the community, and
library staff members thank everyone for their continued support as they
celebrate their 100th anniversary year.
The library is also happy to share that it will now be open Mondays
through Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm, with guidelines. No more than
seven patrons will be permitted in the building at any time with strict social
distancing protocols in place. Patrons must wear a mask at all times. Visitors
need to enter through the back door and exit through the front door.
They are allowed to browse the collections and check out materials, but no
studying, lingering, tutoring or gathering in groups is allowed. Please limit
browsing time as a courtesy for other patrons. Only one public computer is
available. Thirty-minute sessions must be booked by OFL cardholders only,
and only one session per day per patron can be reserved. Children under
10 must be accompanied by an adult and must wear a mask.
The library is also continuing contactless curbside pick-up. To reserve
a title, visit OceanicLib.org, call 732-842-2692 or email rscirc@
monmouthcountylib.org. Selections will be tagged by name and placed
in plastic bags on a table at the back door of the library.
As things move closer to normal, the library is excited to welcome
back its visiting artist collections. This popular monthly activity showcases
the works of two local artists who display and sell a vast array of art.

made soaps and jams, and carvings, just to name a few. Twenty percent
of the sales goes directly to support the library.

Tell Me!” He will be moderating a discussion about “Plot Against America”
by Philip Roth. Sagal “dissects the novel,” including “what it means to build
an alternate history and the story’s connection to our modern reality.”
This free event is open to the public, and advance registration is required
to receive the Zoom link. Find the registration link at CBIRumson.org
or watch live on Facebook @CBIRumson. For more information, email CBI
