The Reno County Museum’s collection
contains over 40,000 artifacts representing
farming, industry, arts & culture, and most importantly
the stories of Reno County citizens.
Our five rotating galleries and interactive
children’s area are sure to be an excellent
experience whether you’re visiting Reno
County or call it home. Visit our interactive
play area where the kids will have a blast
playing in the old general store, schoolhouse,
jail, and more!
The Hutchinson Public Library has all the
resources you need from digitized books and
archives to government documents and the
Kansas Room, filled with genealogical and
local history materials.
The Reno County Veterans Memorial
represents the commitment of the citizens
of Reno County to honor those who have
served in our military. The final phase of this
project will be the addition of 14 granite panels
displaying the names of over 15,400 Reno
County veterans from the Civil War through
today. The memorial site also features the
flags and emblems of all the branches of
service, as well as tribute to the POW/MIA
service members.
The Soldiers and Sailors Memorial, completed
in 1919, is a Grand Army of Republic commemorative
Civil War monument and one of
only three multi-figure memorials in Kansas,
combining a statue of Abraham Lincoln with
statues of a sailor, and artilleryman, an infantryman
and a cavalry man - representing the
four branches of the Union Army.
Discover local and regional masterpieces at the Hutchinson Art Center, featuring a wide
variety of gallery exhibits by regional and national artists displaying paintings, sculpture,
photography and other art forms. The gallery also offers artwork for sale by many local artists
through their gift shop, Consignment Art Gallery, Annual Art Fair in May and Annual Members
Art Show in October.
Shop for original paintings, scarves, greeting cards and calendars all done by individuals with
disabilities at TECH Art Gallery in Downtown Hutchinson. Then, head north on Main Street to
Midtown Hutchinson, to enjoy an unprecedented experience at The Clayworks at Disability
Supports. Featuring unique clay and pottery pieces, artisan glass work, and handcrafted
jewelry as well as greeting cards and two-dimensional art, The Clayworks is a “must-see”
stop when visiting Hutchinson. Relax onsite for the best coffee and pastries in Hutchinson at
Scuttlebutts.
ARTS & CULTURE
If you are feeling artistic and want to ‘Do It
Yourself’, visit some of Hutchinson’s newest
creative venues, Splinters-N-Rust or Lit Studios
Paint & Pottery. Both venues strive to engage
the creativity of people of all ages and
show that anyone can create a masterpiece.
The Wool Market and DIY School provides a
place where you can learn a new skill or craft,
or work on a joint project.
