Navigating Life’s Seasons
By Ayesha Rodriguez
While it is true that there are a plethora of things beyond
our control, there are an abundance of things that we
actually can control. We should aim to make changes
in our lives before they negatively affect us. Being
proactive, instead of reactive, is an excellent choice.
For example, if you smoke, drink heavily, eat too much,
spend excessive amounts of time on social media or
even spend money carelessly, eventually, it will catch
up to you. Gradual changes to your lifestyle is the best
and least painful way to make positive improvements to
whatever your situation may be. It is well known that it
takes twenty one days for something to become a habit.
Mindset is everything. Every day commit to working
towards your goal. No one likes when life forces you to
adjust to particular situation. It’s stressful and usually
comes at you fast and hard! So before being put in a bad
predicament, be purposeful and mindful to correct bad
habits and replace them with good ones. Take control.
Are you someone who makes yearly resolutions?
Maybe instead of attempting annual goals all at once,
you should consider breaking your goals down into
quarterly, monthly, weekly and daily goals. Keeping
your expectations more manageable will reduce
disappointment and the likelihood that you’ll give up.
It may be a bit more work initially, but, it’s much less
overwhelming than trying to accomplish a ton of big
goals at once. Plenty of people shy away from goal
making because they have a horrible history of not
take priority and how you plan to achieve them.
Thinking about your future desires opens up your
want greater experiences and challenge yourself more
frequently. We all want to be proud of how far we have
come on life’s journey and look back on our successes.
Positive change allows us to get better, stronger,
and they all have prepared us for what is to come. Use
your past and your strengths to help propel you into the
new season of your life.
The great thing about thinking big is that you’ll be
amazed at how many others may want the exact same
things as you! Having a connection with others is

important. You’ll be get so much farther
with a support group of like-minded people
to help you make changes, motivate you
and give you encouragement when you’re
down. Not only that, but think of who you
may inspire along the way. If eating healthy
is your goal, wouldn’t it be great if your
partner noticed the changes in your health
and wanted to take part in the journey?
Teamwork makes the dream work.
No one knows where one of life’s seasons
will lead you. However’, I am reminded of a
Bible verse in 1 Corinthians 16:13 that says,
be courageous; be strong.” We really cannot
allow our fears to stop us from being great!
Though we may have a certain milestone in
mind, you’ll be surprised when bigger and
better is waiting for you once you take the
step! Often times, we sell ourselves short
by not dreaming big enough. Do yourself
a favor and keep your mind open to the
possibilities.
Look to nature and realize that sometimes
the leaves change colors. Other times, they
fall off completely and when they come
back, they are beautiful and bright. Every
season will not be the same, but there is
always a blessing in the lesson.
