Gov. Ron DeSantis: Fighting for Florida
Effective leaders are neither egotistical nor apathetic. They instead
possess innate qualities . . . those singular intangibles that inspire people
to confidence.
Whether you’re a politician or the operations manager of a tech company,
doing the right thing and maintaining your integrity may not always make
you popular. Yet good leaders are prepared to be lauded one day and
vilified the next.
It’s not easy guiding people to happiness, health, prosperity, and success.
It’s even harder in challenging times; when hearts are heavy, or people are
struggling. But if you’re an altruistic leader who puts the best interests of
your constituency above all else, you will prevail every time.
In 2001 . . .
Former New York City Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, was pivotal in helping a battle-scarred city heal in the aftermath of
9/11. He made himself accessible. He showed courage and compassion. He united people who were terrified.
He led by example to help us dig deep down to the bravest part of our souls, so we could find the strength to
support each other. There was no other way out of that nightmare.
Along with the herculean efforts of the NYPD, the FDNY, EMS workers, and volunteers from all over the country,
he and his administration got us through. Giuliani had plenty of critics who would have “done things differently”
but that’s a lazy opinion. It’s so much easier to criticize than it is to create.
In 2020 . . .
The entire world experienced unparalleled chaos and tragedy at the hands of an unseen enemy. Confusion
reigned as we tried to gain an understanding of a viral wave that swept the globe. Despite the pontificating
politicians who were more intent on pointing fingers than making a frightened country feel safe, there are millions
of stories about neighbors helping neighbors, in big and in small ways.
As steadfast Americans, we know how to come together when the going gets tough. It also helps to have Ron
DeSantis at the helm.
The Sunshine Solution
Florida’s eclectic population made the task of managing the virus particularly daunting due to the sheer number
of those vulnerable to it. Besides the fact that one in five residents is 65 years of age or older, we have a
tremendous tourism trade, along with snowbirds who shuttle back and forth. Those myriad demographics
represented a lot to oversee in the wake of a pandemic.
But Governor Ron DeSantis stayed strong and stuck to his guns.
Although harshly criticized for not imposing statewide mask mandates along with all the other denunciations
his adversaries could muster, he employed his knowledge of Florida to make the decisions that uniquely Ste.d
us. DeSantis took measures to protect our diverse communities and when the time was right, gave us the
opportunity to reopen our businesses and avoid government reliance so we could live our best, capitalist lives.
