TOONEYS
Music Venue
Grab a friend for a night of live music
The Copper Basin counties of
Fannin (Georgia) and Polk
(Tennessee) have a deep history of
music that can be traced back to the
sounds of Appalachian banjos and
bluegrass. But in 1925, when WSN
radio began broadcasting live music
from the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville,
“Music City” was born and generations
of talented musicians would
then tour the small mountain towns
of Tennessee and Georgia.
Around the time a young Elvis
Presley swung through Ducktown,
Tenn., the area could offer a place to
stay over, but not much in the way of
a real music venue. Today, all that
has changed!
With new sounds taking root in
the form of blues, country and rock,
The King would be pleased to see
Copper Basin host the area’s largest
music venue: TOONEYS.
“Toon” In
TOONEYS Music Venue opened
earlier this year with more than
7,000 square feet of space. After a
Murphy, NC-based band
The High Strangeness
brings their folk rock
sound to TOONEYS.
