1r Danish Delights
(Hansen’s Grill, ad page 53) — Savor
Southern cuisine with a European twist at
this cozy Main Street eatery. Try The Alaskan,
a delicious Alaskan cod, dipped in a
flavored breading and deep fried to crispy
yet flaky perfection. It’s served on a Brioche
bun and comes with hand-cut fries.
Mix a little mountain air with
some outdoor activity and,
suddenly, what’s for dinner (or
breakfast or lunch!) becomes
the most important question
of the day. Turns out, altitude does
affect appetite!
Fortunately, the Blue
Ridge mountains are
home to some truly
inspired chefs. Homegrown
favorites include
the proverbial meat-andthree,
as well as smoky barbecue,
delectable pasta and fresh trout. And
several cutting-edge chefs from across
the South have heeded the call of the
mountains and brought fine dining to
our area with tantalizing appetizers
and full-course meals.
And did you know? You can enjoy
beer, wine and mixed drinks at select
restaurants (even on Sundays in
some locations).
Eat out w Dine in
While restaurants are again
serving diners in-house, you’ll
find many of them also provide
convenient take-out and/or
delivery. So you can grab your
favorites to go and eat back at the
cabin. What’s more, many local stores
also sell fresh produce, specialty
meats, cheeses, wines, craft beer and
desserts to enjoy.
