
to follow. “Whenever my husband and I go out of town,” said Emma, “we
always go straight to the downtown area of that place. That’s where the
history is. That’s where the culture is. You can find out a lot about a town
by just walking around the downtown area.”
Emma graduated from Toombs County High School in 2013
and attended East Georgia College her freshman year. She spent her
sophomore year at Georgia Southern University. The following year, she
returned home to begin the nursing program at Southeastern Technical
College and be closer to her boyfriend, Chris Hamilton, a special ed
teacher and football and wrestling coach at Vidalia High School. After
one semester, Emma knew the nursing program wasn't for her, but the
relationship with her boyfriend proved a more permanent choice. On New
Year's Eve of 2016, she and Chris were married. The New Year was truly a
new beginning for both.
