When she started her freshman year at Kennesaw
State College in the fall, she had decided on pursuing an
international business degree. In retrospect, “It was more
the ‘international’ part that interested me,” she said and
smiled. Along with core classes, Kennedy took accounting and
economics classes with an international business degree in
mind. Just before she was to start her sophomore year, she
prepared to apply to the business college. “I thought I wanted
to do something more on the creative side. After talking to an
advisor, I settled on either marketing or advertising.”
When Kennedy was accepted into the University of
Georgia (UGA) her sophomore year, she was suddenly
faced with a fork in the road. “At Kennesaw, marketing and
advertising are both in the business college. But at UGA, the
two degrees were looked at very differently: Marketing is
in the business school, and advertising is in the journalism
school.” Between the two, “the more creative side seemed to
be advertising,” she determined.
