October Has It All
Ah, October is here – the month with something for everyone.
October rolls itself out like an endless buffet of color and activities.
From fall sports, the bounty of the harvest, pumpkin-spiced everything
to the spooky fun of Halloween, October has a surprise every day.
We break out our sweaters, jackets and boots; start planning
the upcoming holiday season; get to work winterizing our homes,
boats and gardens; and attend the many fall events and fundraisers.
Mother Nature fully employs her paint box to make the long way
home the only way home, as the trees explode in reds and golds.
Yes, October is a feast for everyone, and we at The Journal hope you
enjoy it all.
We have been publishing the Journal for nearly 25 years. I always
knew one month it would go to the dogs, and this month is
it. We are proud to present our annual Pet Guide. This has become
one of our most popular magazines, and this year’s edition is sure
to delight. You’ll read stories about all kinds of animals, from sharks
to horses to the special friends we share our homes and hearts with.
Our Historic Havens column returns for another chapter in our annual
Walk Among the Tombstones, and our Road Back column continues
to celebrate the brave businesses who used innovative methods
to navigate through the pandemic.
I’d like to take a moment to thank our many advertisers who
make bringing you The Journal possible, and we encourage you to
visit these wonderful and expert professionals whenever you need
their goods and services. They are ready to help you in any way, and
your support is essential to keeping our community thriving.
We also encourage you to be generous to the many charities

cated to helping, and they will surely appreciate your support.
Next month, The Journal will be bringing you our Holiday Gift
Guide with all kinds of great items to make your holiday shopping
easy and fun. If you would like to showcase your business, please
reach out to our director of sales, Patrick Collins, who will be happy
to help put your business on the holiday list.
This month, the crisp fall settles in and the world glows with
color. It is a gorgeous time of year, so grab your camera and explore.
Please be sure to share those photos with our busy social media pages
too. Whether you are baking pies, cheering on your team or put-
you for taking time to make The Journal part of your fall. Stay well
and don’t miss a minute of the fun!
