Letter from the Director
Dear Residents,
What an exciting time it is for Cape Coral Parks & Recreation!
Our team, with the support of the City Manager, Mayor, City Council and our
residents, has forged a path to excellence in the provision of recreation services,
and we remain committed to continuing to offer a variety of programs to meet
the needs of Cape Coral residents.
After much planning and anticipation, park GO Bond enhancements are
beginning to take shape.
The Parks GO Bond includes major improvements to parks throughout the City
including the addition of new parks, enhancements to current parks, and a
complete renovation of the Yacht Club Community Park - which will include an
expanded beach, a new playground, boat ramp relocation, seawall replacement,
and a parking garage.
The Yacht Club renovation will involve a lot of heavy construction and
equipment. Trying to operate the facilities during demolition and construction
presents safety risks to the public, which is why the City decided to close the
entire Yacht Club Community Park facility during construction. The project
is scheduled to begin in April 2022 and is expected to take about two years to
complete. Details and renderings can be found online at www.CCYachtClub.com.
Finally, I’m happy to announce a new era for Sun Splash Family Waterpark.
The City has entered into a partnership with ProParks who will oversee onsite
operations starting with the 2022 Season.
See more information on Cape Coral’s parks and upcoming
activities in this program guide and at www.CapeParks.com.
Remember, It Starts in Parks!
Sincerely,
Kerry Runyon
