McClain’s 12-year-old brother Mack was also a camp participant. Mack is
a member of the U12 A Jr. Blades. Their parents, Will and Kelly McClain,
were so impressed with the camp and the staff of JRM, that they have
decided to travel to Sweden this summer to attend a JRM camp.
JRM will be visiting the states again in May, with a camp in California before
returning home to start their European camps. If you have plans to attend
a JRM camp in the future, be sure to register early.
From all the positive response from parents, coaches, and players alike, the
JRM camp was a huge success. Be
sure to look them up on YouTube and
follow them on social media.
I would like to add that we had a
great time covering this camp. The
staff was great to work with and they
made the camp fun and enjoyable for
the players. It was amazing to see
the improvement these players made
in such a short time. The staff truly
enjoys what they do, and it shows.
They have fun with the players but
also worked them hard.

The coaches do this by having the players
attempt things they have never done
before in hockey, and their goal is to show
each player that they can accomplish
so much more with hard work and
dedication.
We watched 30 campers slipping and
sliding all over the ice as they attempted
these new drills. As the camp
proceeded into days two and
three, you could clearly see their improvement.
The looks on their faces were changing also, from a bit of unknown
at the start, to confidence and pride; you could see that they were
starting to push themselves even more.
Three of the girls that took part in the camp were 14-year-old
Fort Myers native Marnie McClain, who plays for the U14 Alliance
girls team, and Bantam A Jr. Blades; Tampa-area sisters Gianna,
12-year-old member of the U12 Tampa Crunch, and 14-year-old
Marissa Zuppa of the U14 Saddlebrook girls’ program.
All three of the girls enjoyed the camp, and each saw an
improvement in their skating. The girls thought that the camp
was both fun and fundamental, and because of this would not
only recommend this camp to their friends and teammates but
are also looking forward to doing it again when JRM returns this
summer.
