13th Annual Parent
of the Year Awards
Parents Step Ahead (PSA), a 501-C3
nonprofit organization based in Dallas,
Texas dedicated to fostering parental
engagement, hosted its 13th annual “Parent
of the Year” awards celebration on Friday,
December 7th, 2018 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel
in Dallas, TX. As part of the organization’s awards
celebration, PSA recognized six honorees
as “Parents of the Year.” This award goes to
outstanding parents who participated
in a PSA school program and serve as
role models in their local community. For
the second consecutive year, JCPenney
served as the event’s official sponsor and provided
a head-to-toe look and beauty makeover for each
honoree as well as for the keynote speaker and
master of ceremonies. The evening’s keynote
message was delivered by Ruben Navarrette, a
syndicated columnist with the
Washington Post Writers Group, a
contributor to The Daily Beast and
USA Today, a popular speaker, host of the
daily podcast “Navarrette Nation,” and author
of “A Darker Shade of Crimson: Odyssey of
a Harvard Chicano”. He is also a fellow in
education policy at the George W. Bush Institute
in Dallas, TX.
