FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear Parents, Alumni, and Friends of Jesuit,
In this issue of Perspectives
many ways our school
community has responded
to the coronavirus pandemic
and the accompanying
quarantine. These unexpected
and unprecedented events
have changed daily life
everywhere.
From the start, when we
transitioned to virtual
learning in mid-March,
just after Spring Break, the
dedication and flexibility
of our faculty took center
stage. We were able to
capitalize effectively on
many years of experience
with Canvas, effective
teaching with technology,
and the 1:1 iPad program.
However, teaching and
learning at a high level

effective teachers and
motivated students than

technology, no matter
how impressive. Our
faculty and student body

student body, by phone and

course selection and course
placement, and college
counselors were working
with seniors on final college
decisions and also pivoting
toward the juniors as they
begin to focus closely on
the college admissions
process. Resources and
support were available
to students with trouble
adjusting to quarantine,
online learning, or other
difficulties in their daily
lives.
Campus Ministry kicked
into high gear quickly,
producing two convocations
each week, maintaining
Jesuit’s RCIA sessions for
those students preparing
to become Catholic, and
offering innovative service
opportunities, in many
cases service that students
could do from home. The
annual Mission Drive was
held virtually, but the
funds raised for Feeding
Tampa Bay were anything
