IMC Teacher Education
In the recent board meeting, the IMC Board of Directors confirmed a commitment to the Montessori
Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE) when they unanimously approved a proposal to
require all IMC teacher education program affiliates to attain MACTE accreditation. Prior to the vote on
August 24th, THE IMC Teacher Education Standards only required programs in North America to become
accredited by MACTE. With the steady growth of Montessori internationally, IMC recognizes the value of
MACTE in providing a consistent platform for all Montessori organizations to work together for quality
Montessori teacher education.
